Bruins Beat Blues, Force Game 7 in Stanley Cup Finals
St. Louis Blues goalie Jordan Binnington has gotten a lot of attention for his generally good play in the Stanley Cup Playoffs but it was Boston Bruins net minder Tukka Rask who was the star of the show in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals on June 9th in St. Louis. Rask made 28 saves, allowing just one third period goal and his team scored four times in that same period to give the Bruins a 5-1 victory and send the series back to Boston for the decisive Game 7.
Binnington stopped 27 shots and allowed four goals (the fifth was an empty netter by Zdeno Chara). Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak each had a goal and an assist for Boston. Ryan O’Reilly scored the lone St. Louis goal. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch electronic edition prematurely published an ad celebrating the Blues winning the Stanley Cup championship earlier in the day. The Blues and Bruins will play the final game of the series and the hockey season on June 12th and will decide if the ad was foretelling the immediate future, or some time at least another year away.
