WHAT IS DEVILS TOWER?

According to The National Parks Service, efforts were made as early as 1892 to establish Devils Tower National Park. The Antiquities Act of June 1906 allowed “objects of historic or scientific interest” to be set aside by the president. Wyoming Rep. Frank W. Mondell lent his influence to having the area preserved as a national monument and then President Theodore Roosevelt proclaimed Devils Tower as the first national monument on 9/24/1906. There is a video on Rock 96.7 that tells how Devil’s Tower became center stage for 1977’s “Close Encounters of the Third Kind.”

Andrew thought of the Lincoln Memorial. He lost $11,601, landing him in second place with $6,399. That made Graham Fulton III the new Jeopardy! champ.

  1. John Christian Ambion says:

Ellie Jostad is officially DISMISSED after a strong performance by Andrew Kung. Unfortunately, he got his taste of his own medicine, making Graham the new Jeopardy! champion. Let’s hope he prepares for Christmas next week.

  2. Richard Corliss says:

@VJ, No. She had to avoid foods that are crunchy. I think she had two weeks of recovery while going to J.M.U. for her senior year. She’s graduating in May.

  3. Lou says:

Ellie didn’t have a chance at all today and that makes her the third contestant dismissed since mary Kate last week. So we finished this week with a four time winner in Jackie Fuchs, one early elimination and a new champion. I hope Jackie does get into the toc since there are five four time winners here. That daily double didn’t pay off for andrew and here I thought he knew Algeria. Oh well his win was a fluke anyway. Congrats to Graham on his win and I hope he gets a streak up and running.

    • John B./I. says:

I hope J will give Jackie an extra “wild card” or at least invite her back. It would be the fair and decent thing to do. At least imo.

      • Richard Corliss says:

If a contestant does something illegal, dies or can’t make it due to illness, surgeries, or pregnancy they’ll bring Jackie back.

        • John B./I. says:

I think they’ll bring her back, regardless. It’s J’s call who gets on the air , when and why. I would bet my bottom dollar that we will see Jackie before the next ToC again.

    • VJ says:

@Lou, idk how you figure Andrew’s win was a fluke. He made the most of his DD’s and scored a runaway. That is how you’re supposed to play the game, even if it backfires sometimes. Make the most of your opportunities.

  4. John B./I. says:

Well, I guess congratulations are in order for Graham. Pretty much what I expected. Finally all clues played, only time this week. ToC clock reset again….sort of strange bets, again only 2 left for FJ…
    @JJ
I think you meant E.T. but it was “encounters…”, both Spielberg movies.
Have a terrific weekend everybody, last chance for Christmas shopping!!!
    PS
I guess the “Algeria ” miss was not just a generation but a geographical thing. Algeria’s fight for independence was fierce, bloody and long and constant news back then in Europe until de Gaulle finally gave in.Several attacks every week for years……
    “See” you Sunday evening 😉😉
    PPS
    @VJ
I hope your teeth don’t hurt anymore!!!!!

    J.

    • VJ says:

@John, thanks, I didn’t sleep too well naturally, but I am not feeling too bad today.

JJ left you a message on Spoiler Talk that he was referring to this FJ! on 7-19-18

      • John B./I. says:

OK, yeah, with the E.T. FJ I forgot about that. Glad you’re feeling better!!!
Hope you don’t have to see the 👨‍⚕️ again soon….

      • Richard Corliss says:

I had a 3:00 younger sister who got her wisdom teeth out in summer of 2018.

        • VJ says:

I hope it wasn’t too bad for her, Richard. In our house, it is the anxiety more than the visit itself. When my daughter had her wisdom teeth out she was a nervous wreck for 2 weeks before it happened. Then it wasn’t half as bad as she thought it would be. As for me, I had a lot of anxiety about not being better by Christmas (because the last time I went to the dentist, I was messed up for over a week). But this time, it wasn’t that bad.

    • Richard Corliss says:

Spielberg also directed The Flintstones. He’s the producer of Monster House.
