Kevin Durant’s Late Three Pointer Pushes Cavaliers to the Brink

It looked like the Cleveland Cavaliers were getting back on track in the NBA Finals after dropping the first two games at Golden State. The Cavaliers led the Warriors by five at the end of the third quarter, and had a six point lead with three minutes left in the fourth.

But with the Cavaliers leading by four with 1:15 left, we were reminded why Golden State signed Kevin Durant in the off season. Durant scored to pull Golden State within two, and then with 45 seconds left, he hit a 26 foot three pointer to give the Warriors a 114-113 lead. That was it for the Cavaliers. Durant and Curry both added a pair of free throws and Golden State took Game 3 by a score of 118-113.

Durant led Golden State with 31, Klay Thompson had 30, and Curry scored 26. LeBron James had 39 points and Kyrie Irving 38 for Cleveland, but the Cavaliers did not score after a JR Smith three pointer with 3:09 left.
