Jazz Beat Cavaliers on Last Second Basket; LeBron and Kyrie Irving Exchange Words

Well, no one said it was going to be easy for the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavs fell to 1-3 on the young season after losing in Salt Lake City to the Utah Jazz 102-100 on a last second shot by Gordon Hayward. Hayward and Derrick Favors each scored 21 points for the Jazz, while Kyrie Irving had 34 and LeBron James 31 to lead the Cavaliers.

Afterwards, James and Irving exchanged words in the locker room, though the exchange was said to be “healthy” and not “screaming fit of rage”. LeBron was fine with the scoring output of Irving, but he’s concerned with the lack of assists the team has so far. Irving, the point guard, had a grand total of zero. In the Cavaliers’ previous game against Portland, a 101-82 loss, Irving was just 3 for 17 from the floor. But while Irving may be a shoot from the hip kind of guy, he’s also immensely talented and just 22 years old. It’s going to take a little time for all the parts of the retooled Cavaliers to come together and there will be differences of opinion. Some of that will clear up when Irving realizes he can both score a lot of points and pass the ball in any given game. That worked out well for Magic Johnson when he was the point guard for the Los Angeles Lakers in the ‘80s and ‘90s.
