WHAT IS THE NEW JERSEY TURNPIKE?
The line “counting the cars on the New Jersey Turnpike” is at 3:01 in this video of Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel singing “America,” a song that originally appeared on their 1968 album “Bookends,” and was later released as a single in 1972. A 2014 Rolling Stones’ readers’ poll voted the song the group’s 4th greatest song, right after “Bridge Over Troubled Water.” In 2016, Bernie Sanders got the artists’ permission to use the song in a political ad. He included the NJ Turnpike line.
Check out all the rest stops on the New Jersey Turnpike. The Vince Lombardi and Woodrow Wilson Service Areas are two out of three that currently have WiFi. The other is Molly Pitcher.
Atissa got it right. She bet $401 for a $2,401 finish.
Steve thought it was I-80. That cost him everything but a buck.
Greg also got it right. He bet $7,599 so he won the match with $21,399. His 2-day total is $37,599.
A triple stumper from each round:

Thanks for the links, VJ . On that Rolling Stones poll, I just could not believe they ranked Cecilia higher than I Am a Rock and Scarborough Fair.
I agree, mimsy. I was surprised Cecilia was even on the list, and I was surprised that Homeward Bound wasn’t on there at all.
Tonight I’ll sing my songs again, I’ll play the game and pretend
But all my words come back to me, in shades of mediocrity
Like emptiness and harmony, I need someone to comfort me
I know this is nitpicky but except for the original intro of the players you have Atissa’s name spelled with only one ‘s’.
It’s cool, Becci. A very unique name for sure, and I somehow got single t, single s in my head, but I certainly prefer you’re letting me know to having it stay that way. Thanks!
It was kinda nice to see Atissa win the $2K second place prize after the rough time she had trying to stay out of the red.

I used to live in new jersey and my family and I travelled down the nj turnpike to visit friends. We also took that route to Florida and Georgia. its a super busy highway since we do a lot of shopping on NJ route 18. But now that I moved to Connecticut, we usually will visit new jersey as often as needed to because that state has changed a lot.
also Steve was thinking of the Bergen-Passaic expressway that is parallel to the turnpike so that’s probably the reason why he missed it.. How often do you travel on the roads, VJ when you go on vacation with family?
@Lou, I generally don’t go out much for various reasons, and if I do, someone else is driving. I don’t drive at all anymore. Back in the day, I drove on many NJ roads, the GSP, rte 80, rte 10, 1 & 9 and so on but not much on the Turnpike. I was afraid of it after getting lost once but not as afraid as I was of rte 22. LOL!
