Only ONE of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right.
“The Estates-General was the Old Regime assembly of delegates from the three estates of the kingdom: the clergy, or First Estate; the aristocracy, or Second Estate; and the commoners, or Third Estate. Over the course of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, however, the French monarchy had grown increasingly absolute in its powers, and the Estates-General did not meet between 1614 and 1789. After so lengthy a hiatus, it is not surprising that the decision to convene them in August 1788 was akin to opening Pandora’s box.” (World History in Context: Estates General)
Alison wrote down 1815. She bet and lost it all.
Shawn had 1945. She only bet $1,000 so she finished with $9,200.
Todd got it right. His $1,983 bet brought his total win for today up to $24,583, and made him the new Jeopardy! champ.

Congrats to.Todd on getting final.jeopardy, but Shawn thinking of 1945 after the second world war was a really bad guess. Overall, glad to see the daily doubles revealed. But really 1945 what was Shawn thinking? The world war 2 has nothing to do with 1789. Don’t you agree, VJ that response from Shawn was bad?
nah, I don’t think it was bad, Lou. Obviously, if she knew what it was about, like Todd, she wouldn’t have picked that, but since she didn’t, she just picked another momentous time in Europe, just like Alison chose Waterloo.
You might as well take a guess when you’re in that situation because it’s the only chance you’ve got, don’t you agree?
Yes, I agree on that. But still though this stuff is like ancient history. Its like going back in time hundreds of years into the past. Still though, I didn;t have a clue about this since I never studied it in US history class. Still though a good final jeopardy question. lets see if Todd can build on his win tomorrow
Horrible bet by Shawn in the last DD. A miss puts her 15K down: might as well be at zero.

So this is the 4th runaway out of 5 matches in March, right? Wow! Congrats to Todd on getting FJ, even though he didn’t need to.

It was not a runaway until Shawn made a mistake by ringing in on the $2,000 clue in Pack Lunch.
