WHAT IS THE GREAT BARRIER REEF?
The Facts page on the Great Barrier Reef’s website has plenty of info about the natural wonder, including the “roughly half the size of Texas” comparison. They also point out several countries roughly the same size: Japan, Germany, Malaysia, Japan and Italy. They could have listed the Republic of the Congo, Finland, Vietnam or Norway, too. They’re all closer to its size than Italy.
They also could have said the Great Barrier Reef is roughly half the size of Myanmar, Afghanistan or France, but perhaps it’s like Texas Monthly says: “As a frame of reference for how big parts of the world are, Texas is a pretty good one.”
Sabrina wrote down “those.” She lost her $9,555 bet and finished with $45.
Jack had the Great Wall of China. That cost him $6,000 bet and left him with $5,600.
Emily had the same response as Jack. She only lost $799 so she won the match and a semi-final spot with $23,201.

I read Carnegie’s book lo many years ago, when he was still alive I think. It didn’t do me a bit of good: I’m still one of the deplorables. Fell asleep and missed the whole show!
I actually don’t feel too bad for Sabrina and Porter, because I wanted both of them to become wild-cards.
After all three DDs were correct, I was expecting someone to come up with the correct response.

What a badly worded FJ! It should have said “…OF living creatures” not “by”. I’m pretty darn sure the people who built the Great Wall of China were living/alive while building it. I guess the category title: Natural Wonders was supposed to rule out man-made structures.
well, all I can say about that FJ is people are called creatures sometimes, and “person, human being” is one of the definitions.
