Kevin found the Jeopardy! round Daily Double in “The 1800s” under the $600 clue before the first break. He was in the lead with $2,400 when he found it but then he got dinged for $2,000 for a pronunciation error in “Geographic Abbrev.” He said “Bosnia and Herzegovnia” for BH instead of “Herzogovina.” With $400 left, he fell to second place and was now $400 behind Emily’s lead. He bet the $1,000 allowance but one of his picks was WRONG.

ALL of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right.

WHAT IS AN AMATEUR?

The Online Etymology Dictionary says that the noun amateur showed up in 1784 to mean “one who has a taste for (something),” and was from the French amateur “lover of,” which was in turn from the Latin amatorem. By 1786, the definition “dabbler” was added and it was used as an adjective by 1838.

Kate doubled her score to $14,400.

Kevin bet $1,400 bringing him up to $14,000.

Emily didn’t bet anything. She became the second semi-finalist with the same $17,600 she finished Double Jeopardy! with. So now we have two semi-finalists, both named Emily, and two possible wild cards from this game. None of the remaining players is an Emily so there is no possibility of a 3-Emily Final.
