Round 2: Ben found the first Daily Double in “Fiction” under the $1,600 clue. He was in the lead with $11,400, $7,400 more than John in second place. He bet $3,000 and he was RIGHT.

WHAT IS “CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY”?

Ben found the last Daily Double in “Afternoon Tea” under the $1,600 clue. In the lead with $15,200, he had $7,200 more than John in second place. He bet $1,000 and he was RIGHT and the round ended right there.

It sounds appropriate to show a quartet of these teacakes though the French name does not refer to a number.

Ben finished with a runaway $16,200. John was next with $8,000 and Alyson was in third place with $3,800.

WHAT IS THE GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE?

Joseph Strauss was the chief engineer on the Golden Gate Bridge project. The Bridge’s website has a timeline of his life. Strauss wrote poetry as a hobby. After the bridge’s completion, he wrote a poem called “The Mighty Task is Done.” Today’s clue gives the first two lines. The timeline has a link to several poems by Strauss and a student recites the first verse in the above video. Also, check out the website’s Research Library for plenty more info.

Alyson didn’t bet anything. She remained at $3,800.

John bet $399. He finished with $8,399.

Ben bet $199 and won this match with $16,399. The one-day champ spell is over at last. Ben’s 2-day total is $43,200.

During the chat, Alex Trebek inquired into how many kids Ben has and how he came to be a stay-at-home dad. He has 3 and he just wanted to stay home and take care of them. Alex said that must give him lots of time to read books and keep up on the news and Ben agreed. They must all be in school.
