Dallas Season 4 Spoilers

Dallas (2012) executive producer Cynthia Cidre seems to be pretty sure they will get the go-ahead for a Season 4. She says as much and a lot more in an interview with Dallas Decoder after the 2-hour Season 3 finale.

Cidre confirms that Christopher Ewing is really dead. Jesse Metcalfe, who played Christopher, issued this statement ““In classic Dallas fashion the producers and writers needed a season ending shocker. After three great years, I was ready to move on and pursue other projects. It culminated in the perfect opportunity to surprise fans and deliver that shocking twist. I enjoyed my time on Dallas and am grateful for the opportunity to work with Warner Bros and TNT, and I wish the cast and crew all the very best!”

Just before Christopher was blown to kingdom come, Elena found out she was pregnant. She couldn’t wait to get home to do her pregnancy test and did it right there in the mini-mart bathroom while puking her brains out. Who is the baby daddy, Nicolas or John Ross? Cidre teases there is a third possibility and “It’s not the one you expect”. We just don’t recall Elena hopping in the sack sans diaphragm or with a defective one with anybody but those two in Season 3. Will it somehow end up being Christopher’s child? Quite possible, we suppose. We have long waited (and in vain) for the fact that Sue Ellen was Christopher’s blood aunt to emerge.

Still, even if Sue Ellen is related to this child through her sister Kristin, the baby will not have any Ewing blood unless they now claim that J.R. was also Christopher’s father. And Cidre did tease that J.R. left “other spawn” besides the sister John Ross has found out about coming back to Dallas.

And what about John Ross’s new sister? Her mother, Cidre revealed, is dead. That would leave out Katherine Wentworth since Cidre has previously said Katherine is alive but, okay, they can still kill her off. They are also bringing back an old female character who was very popular. That definitely leaves out Katherine Wentworth who was very unpopular. Could it be Jenna Wade coming back with Bobby’s biological son, Lucas?

In the finale, John Ross Ewing declared his intent to be worse than J.R. Other conflicts that were left brewing: Tracy McKay presented a possible threat to Bobby Ewing’s marriage with Ann while Ann’s ex-husband, Harris Ryland, wants Ann back. There is also the possibility that Emma is pregnant after her ordeal at the Mexican compound. For now, Cynthia Cidre let these additional spoilers out of the bag for the upcoming Season 4:

• They will jump forward 6 months and Elena will give birth in Episode 1.
• Bobby Ewing will blame Nicolas Trevino for Christopher’s death and be hell-bent on revenge
• Emma Ryland and John Ross have more of a brother/sister relationship
• Nicolas won’t be in the first couple of episodes
• They are adding a wing to the back of Southfork
• Cliff Barnes will still be in jail but they are considering using him again

Although we didn’t think Christopher would be the one to go, we see the wisdom of the decision in retrospect. His character never really did much except echo Bobby Ewing and moon after Elena Ramos, and that cousin rivalry was getting pretty tired. There’s no official confirmation yet there will be a Season 4. You’ve got to hand it to Cidre and her team, though, for keeping this Dallas revival going for three seasons. Another one would be the icing on the cake.
