Boardwalk Empire News: Chris Caldovino Will Return
When we last saw Tonino Sandrelli in Season 3 of “Boardwalk Empire’s,” he was sticking a knife in his boss, Gyp Rosetti. Then he went back and told Nucky Thompson that it was done and Nucky warned him never show his mug in Atlantic City again on pain of death.
But Tonino will be showing his mug somewhere in the sprawling gangster saga when Season 4 returns in September. The actor who plays Tonino, Chris Caldovino, has just signed a deal to appear in multiple episodes when the show returns.
Rosetti (who was portrayed by Bobby Cannavale) was connected to New York mobster Joe Masseria (Ivo Nandi). Rosetti had to kick up to Joe “The Boss.” So it’s probably safe to assume that Tonino will inherit that responsibility. Let’s hope Tonino doesn’t take to abusing the clergy to fulfill it.
Caldovino just finished a role in a Martin Scorsese flick, “The Wolf of Wall Street,” starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill and Matthew McConaughey. Other Boardwalk Empire actors in the film include Shea Whigham, who play Eli Thompson, Nucky’s brother; and Robert Clohessy, who played Ward Boss Neary (later Interim Atlantic County Treasurer) until Richard Harrow (Jack Huston) and Jimmy Darmody (Michael Pitt) paid him a fatal visit.
