WHO IS ABRAHAM LINCOLN?

In late November of 1864, Karl Marx sent a letter of congratulations to newly re-elected Abraham Lincoln. It wasn’t a personal letter, but was written on behalf of the International Workingmen’s Association with signatures of the members of the Central Council. Marx signed as Corresponding Secretary for Germany. The IWA was particularly happy with the abolition of slavery and Lincoln’s belief that labor was more important than capital.

Wikipedia has an article specifically about the letter, with links to the original letter expressing the IWA’s approval of Lincoln’s abolitionist and labor policies.

Susan thought it was Andrew Jackson. She lost $3,399 and finished with $1.00.

Alex wrote “Who has thumbs and is happy to come in second?” He only lost $1.00 and finished with $9,599.

Paolo harkened back to his chat story with “Who wants to recreate that OK Go music video with me?” He lost $1,026 but won the game with $27,174. Paolo’s 5-day total is $134,516.

1/3 on DD, and missed FJ. Gee, I didn’t feel dumb when I woke up this morning!

That was something, no misses until the middle of DJ! And I got the Taxol tree, because it was new when I was in med school!

  2. Howard says:

IMO all three DDs were on the easy side, and I CANNOT believe that at least one of them didn’t come up with Lincoln for Final. Good grief!

Another game lacking in drama. Not much chance of beating him when he finds all three DDs. Yesterday he eked out a win despite not getting to any of them.

Knew Petty’s guitarist (I’m reading TP’s bio right now and have been a big fan for decades); Taxol tree; and got the Hawaiian Island but only after two players missed it.

    • VJ says:

My daughter couldn’t believe Paolo’s low bet on that ‘Great’ DD. She said he could’ve bet a bundle without risking his runaway.

      • Howard says:

I was sorta OK with that. Had he wagered $5K, let’s say, and been wrong, that would have dropped him to $20400. Alex had $7600, and could have run the table on the remaining 7 clues to kill the runaway (I assume; 7 clues have to be worth at least $3200 in DJ).

  3. Ismael Gomez says:

And we got our first triple stumper of the season since today’s final was a tough one.

  4. Kevin Cheng says:

Paolo is our first official qualifier this season for the Tournament of Champions that will happen later this season.
