Jets Eliminate Blues in Game 7 Double Overtime Victory
The St. Louis Blues came within three seconds of upsetting the Jets in Winnipeg in Game 7 of their Stanley Cup first round series on May 4th, but Winnipeg’s Cole Perfetti tied it up at 3-3 when he scored with three seconds left in regulation. After a scoreless 1st overtime, Adam Lowry scored at 16:10 of the 2nd overtime to send the Jets to the second round.
This would have been an embarrassing early exit for the Jets who had the best regular season record in the NHL at 56-22-4 (116 points), including a 30-7-4 record at home. The Blues took a 2-0 lead in the first period, before Perfetti scored the 1st of his two goals in the game in the second period. St. Louis added a third goal at 19:25 in the second to take a 3-1 lead. The Blues were closing in on victory, when Vladislav Namestnikov scored at 18:04, followed by Perfetti’s tying goal at 19:57.
Winnipeg will host the Dallas Stars in Game 1 of the second round on May 7th. Dallas eliminated Colorado 4-2 in that opening round matchup.
