Cavaliers Beat Mavericks on Max Strus’ 59 Foot Buzzer Beater
Max Strus sank five three pointers including a monumental 59 footer at the buzzer as the Cavaliers beat the Dallas Mavericks in Cleveland 121-119 on February 27th. Strus scored all 21 of his points on three point baskets, going seven for 10. Donovan Mitchell was seven for 11 from three point range, and had 31 points to lead the Cavaliers in scoring. Luka Doncic had another monster game for Dallas, scoring 45 points, with 14 assists and nine rebounds. Doncic currently leads the NBA in scoring average with 34.5 points per game. Kyrie Irving added 30 points for Dallas.
The Cavaliers (38-19) are in second place in the overall NBA Eastern Conference standings behind the Boston Celtics (46-12). Cleveland is 20-4 since January 3rd, while Boston has essentially matched that at 20-5 over the same period of time. Cleveland will host Boston in the final regular season matchup of the two on March 5th.
