TWO of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right.
WHAT IS THE TOMB OF THE UNKNOWN SOLDIER?
From military.com: “For 14 years, the remains of Air Force 1st Lt. Michael Joseph Blassie lay beneath the Tomb of the Unknowns in Arlington. … Blassie, a decorated pilot, was 24 when he died in May 1972. His 138th combat mission ended near An Loc, South Vietnam, when the wing was blasted off his plane by enemy fire. The aircraft went down in flames.”
Michael’s sister Pat’s efforts to find out if the remains in the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier were those of her brother led to the remains being disinterred in May 1998. Advances in forensic medicine led to the identification of Blassie’s remains. In July 1998, He was sent home for burial in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery near St. Louis. The crypt in Arlington has remained vacant since then.
Niranjan got it right. He bet $800 and finished with $8,800.
Diandra got it right. She bet $3,601 and finished with $12,401.
Travis got as far as “Tomb of the unk”. He lost $5,201 and landed in third place with $7,199. That made Diandra a 2x time champ with total winnings of $15,700.

Yikes, lots of stumpers tonight. I guess I blew FJ because I thought it was Arlington National Cemetery, forgetting they wanted the memorial. (Which our family visited 60 or so years ago.) Knew Jay Rockefeller; pine trees; Florida panhandle city; Edgar Winter hit song.
I thought all 3 DDs were pretty easy. Surprised Travis couldn’t connect “Monterey” and “cannery” with the author most tied to them.
It was Diandra and Travis tied for 2nd/3rd after the first round. Niranjan had nothing to do with the first selection in the 2nd round. I’m unsure how they choose who picks first, but it may have to do with who had the last correct answer.
IIRC, if there is a tie after the first round, it is whoever is closest to the host’s left gets the first clue.
Since all last week, these FJs have been alternating between no brainers and triple stumpers with today’s FJ being rather too obvious.
It couldn’t be any clearer how choppy is Mayim’s delivery after that Conley Supreme Court clue that Travis got correct. Her usual delay in declaring someone correct or not caused she and he to speak over each other. That was objectively bad – not just my opinion. Frankly, I’m surprised they didn’t reshoot that.
I agree. She often throws off the rhythm of the game, and the players, too, with her hesitant rulings. Tonight was particularly bad.
No doubt. That is my biggest complaint about her. When is Ken coming back?
It looks like the larger part of the audience is still voting on permanent host
It also seems they could just edit out Mayim’s pauses rather than reshoot
In today’s interview, Travis has a father and a wife who have both been in the show and did not win. Today, Travis did not win and he became the third family member to not win a game of Jeopardy!
