Princess Charlotte’s Christening

Princess Charlotte of Cambridge, the second child of Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge was christened at St. Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham on Sunday, July 5th, the site of many royal christenings, but of special significance on this occasion, it is where Princess Diana, her deceased grandmother, was baptized on August 30, 1961.

The highly traditional ceremony was conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury the Most Reverend Justin Welby, and attended by close relatives, including on Prince William’s side, Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla,
Catherine’s parents, Michael and Carole Middleton, and her two siblings, Pippa and James.

The royal baby has three godfathers: Catherine’s cousin Adam Middleton, Thomas van Straubenzee and James Meade, close friends of Prince William. The godmothers are William’s cousin, Lady Laura Fellowes, and Kate’s close friend, Sophie Carter.

The UK Telegraph has an exceptional photo gallery of the event that includes photos of the godparents.

Princess Charlotte’s big brother, George, walked alongside his father as the Duchess wheeled Princess Charlotte into her big event in the same pram used by the Queen for two of her children.
