Yankees Beat Angels for Ninth Straight Win

CC Sabathia pitched seven innings of one hit ball on April 29th as the New York Yankees beat the Los Angeles Angels 2-1 in Anaheim. This pitcher’s duel came after the Yankees pummeled the Angels 11-1 the day before. New York also beat L.A. 4-3 in the opener of the three game set on April 27th, and swept the series on the road against a pretty good opponent for the club’s ninth straight win.

Shortstop Didi Gregorius won the game on the 27th with a home run in the 10th inning. The Yankees have power hitters Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, and Gary Sanchez in the lineup, and it looks like you can add Gregorius to that list. At the close of the Angels’ series, Gregorius was hitting .340 with 10 homers (tied for the Major League lead) and 30 RBIs (tops in the majors). Some highlights from that April 27th game:

At 18-9, the Yankees are two games behind the 20-7 Red Sox in the A.L. East. New York is in the midst of a difficult part of the schedule. The Yankees have three games in Houston, then come home for three at home against Cleveland and three against Boston. All three of those teams are in first place in their respective divisions.
