Want to Get a Baseball at a Major League Game? Become a Supermodel

Baseball players will frequently toss baseballs to fans at the end of an inning or after retrieving a foul ball.  Lots of fans will try to grab these things and only a lucky few will go home with a baseball.  So what can you do to improve your chances of getting one?  Well, it probably helps to be an attractive young woman, and if you happen to be a supermodel like Kate Upton, your odds of one of the players singling you out are really good.

Such was the case at the Yankees—Tigers game on August 4th in New York.  Kate was in a box seat behind the Tigers dugout, and asked Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander to toss her a baseball, which of course he did.  Yes we know the two are dating but any other player would have done the same thing; in fact, she probably would have had eight or 10 balls tossed to her and would have had duck out of the way.

At 10-9 with a 4.66 ERA, Verlander is having an up and down season, but the Tigers’ rotation is in great shape with Max Scherzer and Rick Porcello both with 13 wins and ERAs under 3.30, plus Anibal Sanchez  (8-5, 3.37 after missing several starts with an injury) and the newly acquired David Price from Tampa Bay.

It would be a shame, but I must wonder if she’ll stay with him if he has a bad post-season or bad couple of years.
