Twins Sweep Giants for Eighth Straight Win

DaShawn Keirsey Jr. drove home the winning run in bottom of the 10th inning, completing a three game Minnesota Twins sweep over the San Francisco Giants on May 11th. Shortstop Brooks Lee led the way for Minnesota, going 3 for 5 with a home run, two runs batted in, and three runs scored.

The victory was the eighth in a row by the Twins, and the club improved to 21-20 on the season, the first time Minnesota has been above .500 this year. The Twins started out badly, and were 7-15 on April 20th and 13-20 on May 2nd. Even with the streak, the Twins are still in fourth place in a surprisingly competitive AL Central. Minnesota is five games behind frontrunning Detroit, and 2 ½ behind both Cleveland and Kansas City. The Twins are 15-6 and home, but will have to improve on their 6-14 road record if they want to be a serious contender. Minnesota will get a chance to improve on the road when they open a six game road trip with three at Baltimore starting May 13th, followed by three at Milwaukee. They will then return home for six games with division rivals Cleveland and Kansas City.
