Toni Tennille Divorcing the Captain

Love kept the Captain and Tennille together for 39 years but now, their marriage is ending. Toni Tennille filed for a divorce from her long time partner, whose real name is Daryl Dragon, on January 16th in Prescott, AZ. The divorce was explained, sort of, on their website with this rather cryptic message:

Until Thursday, January 16th, 2014, when Toni Tennile met with a DIVORCE ATTORNEY, in Phoenix, AZ, everything relating to THE CAPTAIN & TENNILLE appeared to the public as them being the ideal model for a “rock-solid’ married pair. But almost all people naturally evolve over time, & sometimes hidden feelings start to be uncovered when one may read, just a little more into (the popularized, substitute heading appearing just below), stating, for instance: `’MUSIC HAS KEPT THEM TOGETHER”

Daryl Dragon told TMZ that he was unaware that there were any issues in his marriage and would have to find out the reasons for himself.

The move has fueled speculation that it may be a maneuver on Toni Tennille’s part to protect her assets in the event of catastrophic medical expenses stemming from the Captain’s illness. In 2010, Toni stated on her blog that her husband was suffering from a neurological disorder, similar to Parkinson’s disease, which caused him mild to sever tremor that interfered with his ability to play keyboards.
