The Royal Wedding 2018: Harry and Meghan
Meghan Markle certainly looked radiantly beautiful as she became the bride of England’s Prince Harry on May 19, 2018 at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor, as you already know if you were one of the many who tuned in to watch the royal wedding.
Didn’t you love how the little boys held up Meghan’s train on her way into the chapel? Princess Charlotte and Prince George were among the little ones.
Meghan was escorted down the aisle by her soon-to-be father-in-law, Prince Charles, while her groom and Prince William waited at the altar. Among the celebrity guests, we spotted Elton John, Serena Williams, David and Victoria Beckham, Oprah Winfrey, Idris Elba, George Clooney and his wife Amal (you couldn’t miss her in that yellow outfit!).
Among the many highlights: Tears welled up in Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland’s eyes as she watched her daughter. David Conner, the Dean of Windsor, call the couple by their proper names at first, Henry Charles Albert David and Rachel Meghan, and then switched to Harry and Meghan. Our favorite moment was after the ceremony, when everyone sang “God Save the Queen” except Queen Elizabeth! You gotta love that.
Prior to the wedding, the Palace issued this announcement: ““The Queen has today been pleased to confer a Dukedom on Prince Henry of Wales. His titles will be Duke of Sussex, Earl of Dumbarton and Baron Kilkeel. Prince Harry thus becomes His Royal Highness The Duke of Sussex, and Ms. Meghan Markle on marriage will become Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex.”
Congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Town & Country has an article you may find interesting: “11 American Women Who Became Princesses.” Actually, though, Lisa Halaby became a Queen.
Thanks for the great post and the clips, VJ! How beautiful and radiant Meghan looked! I loved her tiara, do you think the Queen might allow my future daughter-in-law to borrow it in August lol?
ha ha, probably not, Rhonda, but I bet there will be copies of it available by next week! Women wanting to look like Meghan is the new rage from what I’ve seen on TV.
Rhonda, you’ve got to watch “Desire” with Marlene Dietrich and Gary Cooper on TCM on Demand if you haven’t seen it (till 5/25). It’s hilarious!
I’m sure that you’re right about the tiara VJ!
Thanks so much for telling me about the movie, I will be sure to watch it.
I did enjoy “Mama” very much. Poor Max, I was so happy when he brought the flowers to Maddie and she remembered who he was.
