Takuma Sato Wins His Second Indianapolis 500
After a three month delay due to the Coronavirus, the Indianapolis 500 was finally run on August 23rd. And due to the continuing pandemic, the race was run with no fans in attendance.
Scott Dixon led for 111 laps, but in the end, Takuma Sato emerged as the winner. The race ended on a caution flag after Spencer Pigot crashed with five laps to go, with Sato in the lead. Dixon finished second, and Graham Rahal was third. It was Sato’s second Indianapolis 500 victory; he also won in 2017.
With five races left in the season, Dixon has a big lead in the point standings. He has 335 points, while Josef Newgarden is in second with 251.
