Surging 76ers Beat Pistons for 12th Straight Win
We’re getting down to the last few regular season games in the NBA and the Philadelphia 76ers are putting on a late season surge. The 76ers beat the Detroit Pistons 115-108 in Detroit on April 4th, for Philadelphia’s 12th straight victory. The win moved the 76ers into a tie with the Cleveland Cavaliers for the third seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs.
The Cavaliers have been pretty hot themselves, winning nine of 10. They play Washington on April 5th, and then will be at Philadelphia April 6th for what has turned out to be a very big game for the third seed. At the close of play on April 4th, both Cleveland and Philadelphia were eight games behind front runner Toronto, and five behind second place Boston with four games left so the race is for third. Indiana also figures in the mix but has its work cut out for it; the Pacers are two behind the Cavaliers and 76ers.
While Philadelphia was beating Detroit, in a matchup of the East leaders, Toronto defeated Boston 96-78. The Raptors host Indiana on April 6th. The Celtics host Chicago on April 6th, but Boston’s outlook for the rest of the season looks a little bleak, as ESPN reports that Kyrie Irving is out for the rest of the season following knee surgery.
All eight playoff teams have been decided in the Eastern Conference, though the seedings themselves have not. They are: Toronto, Boston, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Indiana, Miami, Washington, and Milwaukee. In the West, Houston, Golden State, and Portland are in.
