Spurs Beat Thunder for the Third Time in Two Weeks

The defending NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder continue to have the best record in the NBA Western Conference (as well as the entire league) at 26-5, but they can’t push the San Antonio Spurs aside. The Spurs beat the Thunder in one of the NBA’s Christmas Day games 117-102 in Oklahoma City. It was the third time in three weeks that San Antonio has defeated OKC.

De’Aaron Fox led the Spurs with 29 points, while Stephon Castle and Victor Wembanyama each scored 19. Wembanyama also had 11 rebounds for San Antonio. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder with 22 points. The Spurs improved to 23-7; they’ve won eight in a row and nine of 10. San Antonio’s first win over OKC was in an NBA Cup semifinal, which means they will play the Spurs five times in the regular season instead of four. They have two games left against each other, in Oklahoma City on January 13th and in San Antonio February 4th.
