Sidney Crosby Scores His 300th Career Goal but Penguins Lose to Flyers

The Pittsburgh Penguins’ Sidney Crosby scored the 300th goal of his career on April 1st, but the Philadelphia Flyers scored the next four as Pittsburgh lost to Philadelphia 4-1.

Crosby leads the NHL in scoring with 80 points on 26 goals and 54 assists. The Penguins have 95 points and are tied with the New York Islanders for second place in the Metropolitan Division, behind the front running New York Rangers (103 points). The Penguins have been spinning their wheels lately, going 3-6-1 in their last ten games. Luckily for them, the Islanders are matching them in mediocrity and are also 3-6-1 in their last ten games. Both teams will make the playoffs, but whoever finishes in second place will get home ice advantage in the first round. Both teams have good road records (New York is 21-13-4 while Pittsburgh is 19-11-7). But any advantage is the post season is worthwhile pursuing, as is entering the post season with momentum.
