Seventh Ranked Florida Blows Out #20 Arkansas, Clinches Share of SEC Title

Defending NCAA basketball champion Florida got off to a bit of a slow start this season, losing four of their first nine (three of those were to then #13 Arizona, #4 Duke, and #5 UCONN). That was way back in November and early December. Since then, the Gators have gotten it together and are on an 18-2 run. On February 28th, the #7 ranked Gators showed just how formidable they are, beating #20 Arkansas 111-77 in Gainesville, FL.

This one was never in doubt. Florida led 53-34 at halftime and then scored 58 in the second half. All five starters and two players off the bench scored in double figures, with Thomas Haugh leading the way with 22 points. Rueben Chinyelu had a double double with 12 points and 16 rebounds.

Florida (23-6 overall, 14-2 in the SEC) clinched at least a share of the SEC regular season title. Alabama is two games behind at 12-4. Florida will host Mississippi State (13-16, 5-11) on March 3rd, and will close out the regular schedule at Kentucky (19-10, 10-6) on March 7th.
