Rookie Elly De La Cruz Hits for the Cycle in Just his 15th Major League Game; Reds Win 12th Straight

Cincinnati Reds rookie Elly De La Cruz is regarded by some as baseball’s top prospect. He was called up from the minors earlier this month, and on June 23rd, he showed why he has that lofty ranking. De La Cruz went four for five at the plate, and hit for the cycle in just his 15th big league game. He drove in four runs and scored three in Cincinnati’s 11-10 victory over the NL East leading Atlanta Braves.

De La Cruz improved his numbers to a .361 batting average, with three homers and 10 RBIs in those 15 games, with a 1.074 OPS, plus he’s seven for eight in stolen bases. The Reds, leaders in the NL Central, continue to be red hot as they’ve won 12 straight. Also of note is the recent return of Joey Votto from the injured list. He hit a pair of home runs in the game.
