Red Sox Shut Down Astros to Win American League Pennant

The Boston Red Sox had the best record in the majors this season (108-54) and that dominance has continued into the post season. The Red Sox beat the Astros in Houston 4-1 on October 18th, eliminating the defending World Series champs four games to one in the American League Championship Series. This is the 14th American League Pennant for Boston; the last one was in 2013.

Left hander David Price started for the Red Sox and got his first post season win as a starter in 11 starts. Craig Kimbrel got his third save of the series. J.D. Martinez and Rafael Devers hit home runs for Boston. They are just two of the hitting stars in the powerful Red Sox lineup; Jackie Bradley, Jr. was the series MVP with two homers and nine RBIs, all of which came in just three games.

The Red Sox will open the World Series at home on October 23rd against the winner of the Los Angeles Dodgers-Milwaukee Brewers NLCS. L.A. leads that series 3-2 going into Game 6 in Milwaukee on October 19th.
