Red Hot Red Sox Complete July with a 21-4 Record for the Month

The Boston Red Sox entered the month of July with an unimpressive 37-46 record. About the only highlight to the first three months of the 2026 season was a four game sweep of the Yankees in the last week of June. Boston’s 1st game of July was a 10-2 clobbering by the Washington Nationals. But then, things started to click for the Red Sox.

Wrapped around the All Star break was a 15 game winning streak. Boston’s final game of July was on the 31st at the Los Angeles Dodgers, and was a 9-4 Red Sox victory. Boston was 21-4 for July, and that is a franchise record .840 winning percentage.

The Red Sox are keeping the momentum going; they beat the Dodgers 3-2 to open the month of August and assuring they will win the three game season series against the defending World Series champs. Though Boston is in third place in the American League East behind the Rays and Yankees, they currently are the #2 Wild Card in the A.L. There’s plenty of season left to move up in the A.L. East race. Boston has a four game series in New York and a three game set at Tampa Bay, but have completed play against those two in Fenway Park for the regular season. However, the Red Sox are 34-22 on the road and just 25-29 at home, so this may not be a problem.
