Randy Moss Retires

Randy Moss, perhaps the most dangerous deep threat in the history of the NFL, announced his retirement from football August 1st.  According to his agent, Joel Segal, Moss considered offers from several teams, but decided to retire instead.  Moss started the 2010 season with the New England Patriots, went to the Minnesota Vikings, and then was sent to the Tennessee Titans.

Moss put up Hall of Fame numbers in his career; he’s currently tied for second with Terrill Owens in touchdowns by a wide receiver with 153 and has nearly 15,000 receiving yards.  His career has also been marred by accusations he took plays off when he lost interest, his moodiness, and some off the field incidents.  But when he was on his game, which was frequently when he played for contenders, he was nearly unstoppable.

We predict he’ll have a change of heart and return if a contending team in need of a wide receiver makes the right offer.  Stranger things have happened in his career, so perhaps we should say he’s not retired, but instead, is on hiatus.
