R.I.P. Glenn Frey. Eagles’ Guitarist Passes Away at 67 Years Old
Glenn Frey, a co-founder, singer and guitarist for the 1970s band, The Eagles, passed away on January 18, 2016 in New York City. The cause of death is reported to be a combination of complications from rheumatoid arthritis, acute ulcerative colitis and pneumonia.
Glenn co-wrote and sang on most of the Eagles hits. One of the most successful bands of the 1970s, The Eagles had five No. 1 hits: “Best of My Love,” “One of These Nights,” “Heartache Tonight,” “New Kid in Town,” and “Hotel California.” After the group broke up in 1980, Frey went on to solo success with hits that included “The Heat Is On” and “You Belong to the City.” As both a solo artist and a member of the Eagles, Frey contributed a combined total of 24 Top 40 singles to the Billboard Hot 100.
As tributes pour in on Twitter, Anderson Cooper tweeted a link to a CNN Video of Glenn Frey telling Piers Morgan in 2012 that his favorite song was “One of These Nights”
In addition to his musical career, Frey also forayed into acting, with roles in various TV series, such as “Miami Vice,” “Wiseguys” and “South of Sunset.”
