Professional Surfer Attacked by Shark

All sports have potential dangers, but not many of them have shark attacks as a possible hazard. Australian professional surfer Mick Fanning had to deal with this shark attack while competing in the finals of the World Surf League’s Championship Tour J-Bay Open in South Africa.

It amazes us that Fanning escaped injury but thankfully he did. The remainder of the tournament was cancelled. Some of the best surfing waters, such as off the South African coast, are also places that sharks like to hang out at the most too, so this occupational hazard isn’t going to go away.

I had a buddy who was from Perth. I asked him about surfing with the Sharks around there and he said “just hit them on the head and they move on”. I just took his word for it.
Swimming with Sharks is a very watchable movie: just in case you missed it.

You said “had” and “was”. Hope your buddy didn’t miss when trying to hit one…

I took your suggestion to Mark and put SWS on my watchlist.
