Plankers Away. Planking Gets a Bad Rap

A lot of celebrities, like Justin Bieber and Katy Perry were having fun, even if a little silly, with the latest internet fad. It’s called planking — the art of laying still face down, the more unusual the place, the better. Getting someone to photograph you is the next step and then you post your creative plank shot online.

Justin Bieber planked on a boat. Katy Perry planked on a yacht and Flavor Flav planked on a truck bed with his crown and clock on no less, but none of those beat out the epic Chris Brown plank:

Since July 6th, a lot of attention has been focused on rapper, Xzibit, for tweeting that “Planking is THE dumbest sh*t ever,” with a follow-up tweet saying  planking wasn’t funny because it refers to a method of transporting slaves.  “Educate yourselves,” he said.  However, an article called “Planking has roots in slavery” was already online on The Black Urban Times before Xzibt’s tweet, and Poprah had taken up the cause to put an end to, we assume, this particular planking game. That interviewed appeared on July 6th.

Who is Poprah? She was a contestant on “I want to work for Diddy.” She is Diddy’s self-proclaimed fraternal twin: “I’m Puffy and Oprah — for real.”

Perhaps they will approve of people walking the plank. We checked on Gilbert Gottfried but apparently, he has yet to find a place to plank.
