Ohio State and Kansas State Score Big Wins in College Football
Second ranked Ohio State had its toughest matchup since opening the season against then #5 Notre Dame when it traveled to #13 Penn State on October 29th. The Buckeyes trailed 21-16 in the fourth quarter before scoring four touchdowns in six minutes and 51 seconds to put away Penn State 44-31 and remain undefeated (8-0 overall, 5-0 in the Big Ten).
C.J. Stroud passed for 354 yards and a touchdown, and TreVeyon Henderson rushed for a pair of TDs for OSU. Marvin Harrison Jr. caught 10 passes for 185 yards. Penn State quarterback Sean Clifford passed for 371 yards and three touchdowns for Penn State but the Buckeye defense intercepted him three times, including one returned for a touchdown. Parker Washington rushed for 179 yards and a touchdown for Penn State.
Ohio State remained #2 in the AP Poll, but third ranked Tennessee moved into a tie with the Buckeyes after clobbering #19 Kentucky 44-6. The Volunteers will be at #1 Georgia on November 5th. Penn State (6-2, 3-2) dropped three places to #16.
After losing at #8 TCU, #22 Kansas State hosted ninth ranked Oklahoma State on October 29th. There must be something about Oklahoma schools this year that works well for the Wildcats. Earlier this season they beat then #6 Oklahoma on the road 41-34. They outdid themselves hosting Oklahoma State, crushing the Cowboys 48-0. Kansas State quarterback Will Howard threw four touchdown passes, and the Wildcats held the Cowboys to 217 total yards while racking up 495 yards themselves. Kansas State improved to 6-2 overall, 4-1 in the Big 12, while jumping nine places to #13 in the AP Poll. Oklahoma State (6-2, 3-2) dropped nine places to #18.
