Notre Dame Edges North Carolina 71-70
As usual, the Atlantic Coast Conference is stacked with excellent basketball teams including five currently in the Top 25. Two of those team, #13 Notre Dame and #18 North Carolina, met at Chapel Hill on January 5th. The Tar Heels fought back from an 11 point deficit, but the Fighting Irish pulled it out at the end 71-70, for Notre Dame’s 11th straight victory. Notre Dame improved to 15-1 while UNC fell to 11-4.
The Fighting Irish have been a scoring machine so far this season; the 71 points against North Carolina was their lowest number scored all season. They are averaging 85 points per game are lead the nation in shooting percentage (.548). They haven’t been bad defensively either, allowing just 62 points per game.
Both teams face tough challenges on Saturday January 10th. Notre Dame will host third ranked and unbeaten Virginia (13-0), while North Carolina will host fifth ranked Louisville (13-1).
