Mike Trout and Bryce Harper Reach Career Milestones
Two of the best young players in baseball reached milestones on August 7th. Mike Trout of the Los Angeles Angels hit his 1000th career hit and Bryce Harper of the Washington Nationals belted his 150th home run.
In Anaheim, Trout celebrated his 26th birthday by hitting a double down the left field line in the fourth inning off of Baltimore’s Dylan Bundy for career hit Number 1000. He kept the celebration going by hitting a home run later in the game. Trout has been in the majors for six years and incredibly, has hit home runs four times on his birthday. The Orioles went on to win 6-2 thanks to a grand slam by Manny Machado, spoiling the party.
In Washington, Harper launched his 150th career home run, a solo shot off Miami’s Odrisamer Despaigne as the Nationals defeated the Marlins 3-2. Harper became the 14th player in major league history to hit his 150th homer before his 25th birthday.
