Larry Hagman on J.R. Ewing and His Dallas Paychecks

In this video, Larry Hagman talks about his role as J.R. Ewing and how he paved the way for other stars to get big bucks per episode when he demanded a bigger paycheck for his popular portrayal of the devious oil baron.

Hagman also talks about how the Queen Mother asked him if he could tell her “Who Shot J.R.?”, the question on everyone’s mind back in March of 1980 when J.R. was shot in his office in an end of the season cliffhanger that was not resolved until the following November.

After appearing in the first season of TNT’s Dallas (2012), Larry Hagman passed away on November 23, 2012 after shooting footage for several episodes of the second season. As a result, J.R. Ewing’s death was written into the show and J.R. was shot again in the March 4, 2013 episode of Dallas, The Furious and The Fast. This time it was fatal.
