J.R. Ewing Funeral Set for March 11 on TNT

According to TV line, Dallas will be holding the funeral of J.R. Ewing in the 8th episode of Season 2.

To the shock of many long-time fans, TV legend Larry Hagman passed away unexpectedly from cancer complications on November 23, 2012.

We just love the new Dallas, and we have to say, that we anticipated that after the show got its sea legs, they would write Patrick Duffy and Larry Hagman out of it or relegate them to far less machinations, smackdowns and brotherly threats. Then they would let the show go on to what it was intended to be — the story of John Ross and Christopher. And they seemed to be heading in that direction already with a big health scare for Bobby Ewing. But we did not even ever think that any of the stars would really die.

Get your hankies out, folks. The funeral of J.R. Ewing is scheduled to air on March 11 on TNT. We didn’t say get your hankies out in March because it’s going to be sad to see the episodes that Hagman already filmed.

Oh, how we cried when Bobby Ewing died. And yeah, he didn’t even really die, but oh my! We didn’t know it was a dream and it was just terrible. After it turned out that it was a dream, it did tend to make you suspicious of other deaths and Pamela’s, at least, turned out to be justified.

Rumors are that many characters from the original series, some that have not even appeared on the new Dallas, will return to Southfork to send J.R. off. No word on whether Sue Ellen will invite Mandy Winger.

Dallas begins its second season on January 28th on TNT.
