Green Bay Packers Running Back Eddie Lacy Tries His Hand at Lumberjack Sports

NFL training camps are underway, but before reporting to Green Bay, Packers running back Eddie Lacy stopped off in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin and tried his hand at competitive lumberjack sports at the Paul Bunyan Northwoods Lumberjack Show.

Yes, there really are competitive lumberjack sports, including log rolling, pole climbing, axe throwing, and sawing. There is competition for both men and women; kids can get into the act by competing in log rolling based on age group. The Lumberjack World Championships have been held in Hayward in northern Wisconsin every year since 1960; this year’s World Championships took place in July.

In this video, Lacy appears to be a natural at throwing an axe.

And on a hot summer day, falling off a log into the water doesn’t seem like a bad idea.
