Golden Knights Beat Lightning and Sweep Season Series

The NHL Eastern Conference leading Tampa Bay Lightning hosted the Western Conference leading Vegas Golden Knights on January 18th to complete the two game regular season series against each other. The Golden Knights got 28 saves from Marc-Andre Fleury and goals from four different Knights and beat the Lightning 4-1. The Golden Knights won the other game between the two in Las Vegas back on December 19th, sweeping the series.

Tampa Bay is now 31-11-3; with 65 points they still have the best record in the NHL. Vegas improved to 30-11-3 (63 points), and has the next best record in the league. The Golden Knights had been in what passes for a minor slump for them, going 2-2-1 in their previous five games. Vegas continues to set the conventional wisdom on its ear in terms of how expansion teams supposedly don’t do well in their first season.
