Gilbert Has No Filters: Celebrity Apprentice Recap

In the third task of Celebrity Apprentice 7 (1/5/2015), Trump met with his remaining celebrities and executives from Luvo (founder Steve Sidwell and CEO Christine Day).

Their company has “revolutionized the food industry, and the food is delicious,” Trump says. The task is to create a Luvo bistro and “put on an entertaining and informative product tasting.” They had to come up with an original branded theme and a tasting menu for the judges and diners, including reps from Delta Airlines. Eric Trump explained that Delta serves a lot of Luvo products on their flights so their opinion is important. Vivica Fox took the project manager role for Team Infinity and Terrell Owens headed up Team Vortex.

The ladies began working on a slogan which means everyone talked at one time or “Scatty Cathy”, as Vivica called it, was in the house. Leeza Gibbons’ “one bite at a time” and Kenya Moore’s “love yourself, love Luvo” was combined into “love yourself, one bite at a time.” They worked on lifestyle vignettes. Shawn Johnson informed Vivica that it was the “moon cycle” for her and usually, she stays in bed that whole week every month. Vivica couldn’t believe it! She sent Shawn and Kate Gosselin off to get props and costumes, but they still managed to hamper progress by taking six hours to shop, leaving no time for rehearsal.

On Vortex, Ian Ziering wanted to use the term “youthspan”, while Geraldo Rivera thought they should all have tight Luvo tee-shirts and a burqa for Gilbert Gottfried. Gilbert came up with the same “love yourself” slogan as the ladies, only his visual was a hotel room watching an adult movie. This should have been the first red flag for Terrell but no, he wanted Gilbert to take the lead on the comedy. Everybody knows by now what Ian pointed out– Gilbert has no filters. But Terrell thought Gilbert gave them the best chance at bringing something entertaining and funny. (Terrell, this about winning for your charity. Duh!) Here’s the slogan Geraldo came up with: “Eat lean, live long, love Luvo for a delicious life.” Lorenzo Lamas shortened “love Luvo” to just “Luvo”.

The Vortex presentation was going off “without a hitch” until Gilbert did dessert. After saying the frozen yogurt tastes fattening but it’s not, he went into a spiel about how it’s a miracle that he has two kids because that means a woman with low self-esteem had sex with him twice. While Geraldo longed for a hook to pull Gilbert offstage, the pint-size one man wrecking crew told a diner that the same “miracle” could happen to him too.

The ladies’ drama was confined to the cooking area because the courses weren’t prepared fast enough and Vivica, dressed as a manly “Coach Fox”, had to keep the diners entertained until the food was ready. Jamie Anderson was insulted by Kenya’s brusque manner and demanded an apology that she got but refused to accept. Nonetheless, Vivica felt it all turned out “Luva-licious.” Not that she had anything to worry about because Gilbert’s antics assured the ladies another win. Vivica’s charity, Best Buddies, works with special needs people to find jobs and housing and they are getting $50K.

Terrell’s choices for heads on the chopping block were Geraldo and Gilbert and you didn’t need a crystal ball to figure out who was getting fired. In fact, you didn’t even need one to know that at some point this would happen. Gilbert takes nothing seriously and told Donald Trump that he sees the show as a game. Trump claimed he could not fire Gilbert for being inappropriate since he does a lot of things that are totally inappropriate as well. In all fairness, however, the executives didn’t like Gilbert.

Gilbert said it was not the first time he’d heard the words “you’re fired”. We know. AFLAC!

So that is the second win for the ladies. Kevin Jonas was fired in Task 2, and Keshia Knight Pulliam was fired in the first episode.
