French President Hollande Honored at White House State Dinner

President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle diplomatically solved the seating dilemma at the State Dinner in honor of French President Francois Hollande. They sat on either side of him. Hollande was originally scheduled to bring along his former First Lady, Valerie Trierweiler, but the two had a very public break-up last month. There was originally going to be a dance at the dinner but that was cancelled so as not to call any further attention to the French President’s solo status, not that it did not go unnoticed. And who knows, maybe Hollande would have liked to take a turn on the dance floor with some of the guests.

Some of the rich and famous in attendance: actor Bradley Cooper and his girlfriend, Suki Waterhouse; actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus brought along her father; comedian Stephen Colbert and his wife Evie; basketball player Jason Collins; Rev. Al Sharpton brought along his girlfriend, Aisha McShaw; billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk and wife Talulah. Singer Mary J Blige, who came with her husband Kendu Isaacs, provided the evening’s entertainment.

Although President Obama brushed up on his French for the visit, he still seems to have a bit of a problem with his pronunciation of Hollande.
