Jeopardy! champs for the week of December 11, 2017

Denise Littlejohn was Monday’s returning champ. She was defeated by Kate O’Connor who remained champ until Thursday, when Johnny Leon knew his beer commercials. On Friday, Donna Brown made some amazing bets in the last half of Double Jeopardy! that made for very exciting viewing! Her score rose from $9,800 on the 16th clue to the $45,600 that won the game.

Tuesday’s chat caught the media’s attention this week and Alex Trebek was raked over the coals for his comment to retired Army Master Sergeant Lisa Beth Davis. Even TMZ got in on that. “That must be really tough for a woman,” Alex said, “because a Master Sergeant is giving orders most of the time.” Lisa Beth wasn’t offended. She handled the remark with great aplomb, pointing out that she was pretty bossy as a result of being the oldest sibling in her family. Here’s a thought: perhaps he apologized to Lisa Beth personally for the way it came off. We’re sure Alex has known his share of bossy women. He went to Catholic school as a boy and said, in an interview for his hometown paper, that he “got whacked by the nuns for throwing snowballs and bothering the girls.”

We also know that Alex said Donna set the top one-day payout for the season, but actually, Donna’s $45,600 knocked Austin Rogers $36,200 on 9/18/2017 down to No. 4. Maybe Alex isn’t counting the games before the 2017 ToC, but Austin’s daily payouts continue to dominate this list. Nonetheless, if Donna keeps up her winning ways, she may knock a few more of his payouts down and we may see her on the top of the ToC list for next year.
