STARS OF THE 20th CENTURY: A 1927 N.Y. Times headline: “Witness testifies” this woman “rewrote play and insisted on the spicy scenes because city liked them” show

This week, it was either 2 correct responses or none at all. Of the 2 triple stumpers, I think the hardest was the one with the 1927 NY Times headline. I probably think that because I missed this clue and got the other one right. Still, I believe I saw more people saying they got the 1864 funeral clue right than the spicy scenes play. Of the 3 clues that got 2 correct responses each, I think the Shakespeare one was the easiest.
This week’s winners:
Mon 9/23/24 $17,655 David Erb
Tue 9/24/24 $39,488 David Erb
Wed 9/25/24 $33,611 David Erb
Thu 9/26/24 $11,700 Maddie Carwile
Fri 9/27/24 $28,200 Kate Roesch
We had our first 3-day champ in Season 41 with David Erb this week. David was going great guns with big Daily Double bets. I know it looks like he had a run-of-the-mill game on Monday but that’s because he lost a bundle on the FJ! clue. David ended up winning a total of $90,754. Adding Maddie Carwile’s and Kate Roesch’s winning to that, Jeopardy!’s total payout this week was $130,654. The usual $25,000 was also paid in consolation prizes. David got $3,000 of that.
Here is the ANIMAL GROUPS category from Wednesday’s game.
