This week, we started off with 2 back-to-back games where one player didn’t make it to Final Jeopardy! Both times, the two remaining players were stumped by the FJ! clue. On Wednesday, two players were correct. There was only one correct response in FJ! on Thursday and Friday. Ironically, it was the clue with the two correct responses that generated the most controversy over possibly correct alternate answers. For me, the Olympic game was the hardest because I just don’t follow the Olympics. That was the only one I didn’t know so I can’t say which was the easiest.
Ben Goldstein returned on Monday for his second game. He won every game through Thursday but was defeated in his 6th game by Donna Matturri. So we will be seeing 5x champ Ben in the next Tournament of Champions and we will be seeing Donna this coming Monday.
Much has been made of Ben Goldstein setting a new record for the lowest 5-day winnings in Jeopardy! history at $49,298. Here’s a thread on Twitter where Ben points out more fun facts and stats from his 5-day run. Here’s No. 1: “If I had bet $0 in every Final Jeopardy, I still would have won my first five games, and would have netted an additional $18,002 over the course of my run.”
Here is the “Official Nicknames” category from Wednesday’s game.
