COUNTRIES OF THE WORLD: Fearful of independence in 1975, around 120,000 of this country’s people, a third of the population, fled to the Netherlands show

This week we had one clue that everyone solved on Tuesday. The rest of the week was dismal indeed. In fact, this was a repeat of last week’s results. Last week, only 2 players made it to FJ! and out of 14 possible correct responses, only 6 were right. This week, only 2 players made it to FJ! on the exact same day as last week. There was a total of 5 correct responses this week. These really aren’t the kind of results viewers expect in the Tournament of Champions, although Wednesday’s clue this week was a tough one and there was one last week that was very confusing.

This week, these 5 players joined Emily Sands on the list of semifinalist: Jared Watson, David Sibley, Yogesh Raut, Luigi de Guzman and Brian Henegar

There will be 3 more quarterfinals next week and here’s the lineup:

Mon 3/4: Ray Lalonde, Melissa Klapper, Ike Barinholtz
Tue 3/5: Ben Chan, Justin Bolsen, Emmett Stanton
Wed 3/6: Troy Meyer, Deb Bilodeau, Sean McShane

The semifinals begin after that. It’s kind of a drag that we’ll only see 2 semis and won’t know who the third finalist will be until Monday, 3/11 but that’s how it’s going to go down.

Here is the COUNTRIES OF THE WORLD category from Friday’s game in case you want to revisit that first time Ken Jennings decided to take a swipe at the late and great Alex Trebek on the Alex Trebek Stage.
