After starting the week with two triple stumpers, the only way to go was up and, on Wednesday, it went up one! The next day, everyone got it and everyone would have gotten it on Friday if we were going to see a pattern but one person missed Friday’s clue. Thus, the easiest for the players was Thursday’s clue. Of the 2 triple stumpers, the one about the adjacent states should have been the easiest but in all the clues of this type, it makes a difference where you start out when you’re under a 30-second time limit.

Jeopardy! champs, week of January 30, 2023

Jake DeArruda returned on Monday and won 2 more games. On Wednesday, Patti Palmer prevailed when she was the only one to get the final clue. Matthew Marcus won the last 2 games of the week. He will be back on Monday to try to continue his run.

Ken mentioned in Friday’s intro that Matthew’s payday on Thursday was in the Top 10 for this season. That’s true but it’s also interesting to note that the Top 5 payouts all belonged to Chris Panullo until Troy Meyers took over the No. 5 spot on 1/26/23. Troy also won $40,000 on 01/24/23. Near as I can figure, so far Cris and Troy are the only ones this season who have had more than one payday of $40,000 or more.

11-24-22 – $71,821 Cris P
10-10-22 – $59,821 Cris P
10-11-22 – $53,601 Cris P
12-02-22 – $44,121 Cris P
01/26/23 – $44,401 Troy M
11-29-22 – $44,000 Cris P

Here’s the “SCARY MOVIES” category from Monday’s game.
