WHAT IS “WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE”?
The second item on 9 Fascinating Facts About Maurice Sendak (Mental Floss) notes that Maurice Sendak’s originally intended to write a book about wild horses. His editor was fascinated with the title “Where the Wild Horses Are” but Sendak said he couldn’t draw horses. He said he could draw “things”, resulting in a title change to “Where the Wild Things Are”, which was published in 1963. The “things” that illustrated the book were fierce-looking creatures that some parents and libraries thought were too scary for children.
Nevertheless, the book won the Caldecott Medal and went on to become a classic. It has been adapted, among other media, to a 1980 opera and a live-action 2009 feature-film. During his presidency, Barack Obama liked to read “Where the Wild Things Are” to the children attending the White House Easter Egg Roll.
Hester thought it might be “Harold and the Purple Crayon”. got it right. She lost $2,500 and finished with $700.
Justin went with “Black Beauty”. That cost him $2,401 and left him with $1,599.
Steven came up with “My Little Pony”. He lost $17,117 but he won the game with $10,683. Steven’s 3-day total is $57,089.

2/3 on DD and got FJ, that nearly immediately. I am happy I got in before that guy that says “Today’s final was difficult because we had a triple stumper”, which is NOT how it goes.
Also got the fossil TS, and the Jane Weidlin one.
Ho-hum, another day, another runaway. That $8K DD wager was daring, and his FJ wager very costly. I knew only the first DD (easy one) and blanked on Final. Only stumper I got surprised me when they missed it, the word for bad sound (“malphonia” cracked me up).
I was shocked no one got the synonym for exact copy in relation to a telecopier. Has it been that long?
Today we saw unplayed clues for the first time this season.
