New champ Matthew Price beat the first 3-day champ of the season last Friday and won $22,600. Today he takes on these two players: Heather Jarvis, originally from Trinidad and Tobago and now in New York; and Dave Childs, from Washington, DC.

Round 1: Tough round on the players with a lot of triple stumpers and we didn’t even think we’d get to the Daily Double but we did! Heather found it in “Heraldry” under the $800 clue. She was in the lead with $5,200, $400 ahead of Dave in second place. She bet $800 and took a guess with Kitchener. That was WRONG.

That ended the round with 4 clues uncovered. Dave finished in the lead with $4,800. Heather was second with $4,400 and Matthew was last with $600.

Round 2: Dave found the first Daily Double in “‘D”C’ing You” under the $1,600 clue. He was in second place with $6,400, $2,400 less than Heather’s lead. He bet $3,000 and could not come up with it so he was WRONG.

Matthew found the last Daily Double in “A Place Fit for a King” under the $2,000 clue. He was now in second place with $5,000, $3,300 less than Heather’s lead. He bet $2,000 and he was RIGHT.

Heather finished in the lead with $16,400. Matthew was next with $10,200 and Dave was in third place with $4,600.

Only ONE of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right.

Dave got it right and doubled his money. He finished with $9,200.

Matthew thought it was Barbra Streisand. He bet and lost it all.

Heather came up with Marvin Hamlisch. She lost her $4,600 bet but still won the game with $11,800.

So we start out the week with a new champ. Heather Travis works as an editor at the United Nations. In the chat, Alex was curious about her job description. She was explaining her functions when he interrupted to find out if you have to be fluent in a number of languages. Heather said that English editors are required to have French and another one of the official languages.
