Final Jeopardy: More Than One Meaning (7-15-22)
Today’s Final Jeopardy question (7/15/2022) in the category “More Than One Meaning” was:
Its definitions include containing the metallic element no. 22, pertaining to a group of Greek gods & having great strength or size
2x champ Emily Fiasco, a middle school band director from St. Louis, MO, has won $53,201 so far. In Game 3, her competitors are: Christopher Arns, a teacher from Fair Oaks, CA; and Anmol Sinho, a tech salesperson from San Diego, CA.
Round 1 Categories: U.S. Places, Everybody! – Musicians’ Real Names – Let’s Talk about Bite Club – 4, 4 – Ice Cream – Novel “T”S
Emily found the Jeopardy! round Daily Double in “Novel ‘T’s” under the $600 clue on the 19th pick of the round. She was in the lead with $3,200, $600 more than Christopher in second place. Emily bet $2,000 and she was RIGHT.
The nameless narrator of this, H.G. Wells’ first novel, finds himself in the year 802,701 show
Christopher finished in the lead with $5,200. Emily was second with $5,000 and Anmol was last with negative $600. All clues were shown.
Round 2 Categories: Mexican History – Model Behavior – World of Opera – Ovid – You Will Get Better Here – Ends with “I”
Anmol found the first Daily Double in “Ovid” under the $800 clue on the second pick. He was in last place with negative $200, $5,400 less than Christopher’s lead. Anmol bet $2,000, and said Metamorphosis. That was WRONG.
In this fittingly titled Ovid work, Ascalaphus is punished by being transformed into an owl show
Emily got the last Daily Double in “World of Opera” under the $1,600 clue on the 12th pick of the round. In the lead with $8,200, she had $3,400 more than Christopher in second place. Emily bet $4,000 and she was RIGHT.
“Nabucco”, based on the life of Nebuchadnezzar, features a scene in this city’s gardens show
Emily finished in the lead with $29,000, a titanic runaway, you might say. Anmol was next with $5,800 and Christopher was in third place with $2,400. All clues were shown.
TWO of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right.
WHAT IS TITANIC?
There’s not much to add today, except metallic element no. 22 is titanium, so named because of its strength. The Greek gods referred to in the clue are the 12 Titans of legendary size. Titanic is not a word I use a lot. Of its listed synonyms, I’m more likely to use huge or gigantic.
Here’s how to say “titanic” in other languages.
French: titanesque
Italian: titanico / titanica
Spanish: titánico / titánica
German: titanisch
Polish: tytaniczny
However, the title of the 1997 film is “Titanic” in all those languages.
Christopher thought it was mighty. That only cost him a dollar so he finished with $2,399.
Anmol got it right. He bet $2.00 and finished with $5,802.
Emily got it right, too. She bet $5,000 and won the game with $34,000. Emily’s 3-day total is $87,201.
A triple stumper from each round:
NOVEL “T”S ($1000) This novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald tells of the troubled marriage of Dick & Nicole Diver
MODEL BEHAVIOR ($800) Once a model for Tom Ford & Armani, in 2021 Noah Mills joined the newest spin-off in this CBS action franchise, set in Hawaii

The “Bite Club” black snake – Anmol, anaconda? Bad call.
And, I have to admit, Christopher and Anmol weren’t really too competitive.
Happy to see Emily winning again! Congrats to her and to Anmol getting final right! I hope emily can continue her streak of wins next week!
I quickly thought of titanic for FJ, but then changed it to titanium after the metallic element No. 22. I wonder, would I still get credit?
No, Rick, you wouldn’t get credit because that word doesn’t fit the other definitions in the clue
I think that it threw me when the clue mentioned “having great strength or size” as that particular word would seldomly be used in that sense. In fact, one could describe such a usage as archaic. That was why I reverted back to titanium, and granted titanium was not an adjective.
Idk, I’ve seen it used to describe the size of something as having “titanic proportions”
I just googled that phrase with the quotes and got 63,000 results. There’s even a song. lol
Emily did great today again, she will see you following Monday if she could get a 4-day champion, and will compete in the Tournament of Champions when she has 5 wins in a row.
Isn’t it unfair to have two music-related categories (Musician’s real names in J! round, and World of opera in DJ!) when one of the players is a band director?
Emily ran the “opera” category and the “ends in I” category but Mayim mentioned only her “ends in I” run for the audience applause. Why not the first also?
Who knows, klm? This is just my opinion but I don’t even consider it running a category when there’s a Daily Double in it, even if one player gets every clue. It’s not like you beat the other two players to the clue. You get it because you landed on it when it was your pick and you get the clue all to yourself.
That being said, I noticed that Mayim told Steve that he ran the Bible category when the last clue was a Daily Double on Wednesday.
One way or the other, it’s no big deal to me — I’ve seen it happen both ways with Alex, too.
The last time there was a triple stumper fj clue, on a Friday, was March 25, 2022. So glad Mayim leaves on a positive note her last day.
We are only 2 weeks left until the Season Finale of Season 38. Ken Jennings will host the final two weeks of Season 38.
